SCHOOL VISITS: K - 12
I do three presentations, grouped by ages. I show slides and talk about how I write and research my books, both fiction and nonfiction. I happily modify my program to the different age groups and to the school's needs. Very often we talk a lot about research, and the differences and similarities of fiction and nonfiction. We also talk about dogs and laugh a lot.

DEBORAH GIVES BACK AT BUCKINGHAM
I had a great visit at my boys' old school, Buckingham Friends School, in Lahaska, PA. The students voted on my choices, and there was an almost tie. We did a run-off and the winner was Rainforest Trust. I will be donating half of my fee, $1,250.
Here are some photos from the day. As you can see we bonded! My children are now 29 and 26, but some of the same teachers are there, including my BFF, Nancy Sandberg. My boys' beloved 3rd grade teacher, Mr. C., happened to be back subbing that day, so we grinned at each other during my whole presentation to the middle school.
The students took the voting very seriously, and the librarian, Hillary Spitzer (in the photos with me and the students), loved the process so much she's going to add it to the curriculum next year.
Thank you to Authors For Earth Day for this opportunity!
