WALDORF SCHOOL New Orleans, Louisiana USA

One of the nicest things about an A4ED event at the Waldorf School in New Orleans is the school's philosophy of environmental protection. The Waldorf School's mission statement includes: "We cultivate in our students a profound love of nature, and gratitude for the Earth and all life. We encourage active engagement with nature, so students may understand themselves as an intrinsic part of the world around us."

The 4th and 5th graders had been researching bees and their contribution to the environment. This contributed to the students' decision to donate my speaker fee to the Honeybee Conservancy. After the presentation I was awarded with the opportunity to see some of the children's writing. After first grader Liam read me his book, he gave me his autograph. When he's a famous author, it will be worth a lot of money; for now, it's priceless.
