SCHOOL VISITS: K - 5
I write non-fiction, as well as beginning readers and chapter books. For younger students, I discuss plotting a mystery and creating characters. Together, we work on brainstorming and writing a story. For older students, I show the steps involved in making a book and explain all the people involved. I explain how a non-fiction book is researched and ignite their love of natural history through fun, interactive games.

HEATHER GIVES KIDS A CHOICE AT BROOK ELEMENTARY

I had a fantastic day with the enthusiastic K-6 students at Salt Brook Elementary School in New Providence, New Jersey. They were all eager to show their support for the different conservation organizations. With the help of librarian Michelle Demich, they'd thoroughly researched their choices—these kids really knew their facts! Principal Jeannie Drexinger (pictured) was as excited as I was that the winner was THE RAINFOREST ALLIANCE.
