SCHOOL VISITS: K - 12
When presenting, Donaldson explains how authors use basic the elements of story telling such as conflict, characters, and setting to draw readers into the narrative. In addition to the literary illustrations that she provides, she engages the students to offer examples of those elements from books that they have read. Because Donaldson is an organic farmer, she also tells stories from her farm-life that display various conflicts, both large and small, and the way the characters, namely she and her husband, solve the problems.
