When Kristin was in sixth grade at City Park Elementary School in Athens, TN, she interviewed her favorite author by telephone—Madeleine Engle! When Kristin told Ms. Engle she wanted to be a writer, the author replied, "Good for you! Keep reading and you can do it! "Kristin strives to pay that sentiment forward at every school she visits. Her fun and educational presentations include: Writing Magic: The Secrets Behind Great Writing Tricks, The Second Draft: On Revising, and Research Rapture!

KRISTIN EMPOWERS YOUNG READERS AT CITY PARK
My school (and alma mater!) was City Park Elementary. They chose for my A4ED donation to go to Friends of the Smokies, a nonprofit that maintains trails, structures, and programs in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Here is what the organization wrote in response: Thank you for your support for Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With your help, we are able to fund conservation projects like the elk reintroduction in Cataloochee Valley, education programs like Parks as Classrooms, and many other projects related to recreation and historic preservation. Together, we are making a real difference in the effort to preserve and protect Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
